Serving communities
Ekoya plays an active role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by focusing on the key challenges facing the African continent’s development. Our work centres on practical and essential issues aimed at improving living conditions across 5 key areas:
Water, sanitation and hygiene
We work to ensure equitable access to safe drinking water and sanitation facilities. Our activities include integrated water resources management, the design of sustainably managed infrastructure, raising awareness of best practice, and building local capacity.
Urban and territorial challenges
We support cities and local authorities in their development by providing tailored solutions to challenges relating to urban development, transport, housing, spatial planning, urban and social project management, municipal investment, local finance and taxation, and the management of assets and services. The aim is to build more inclusive, well-organised and resilient towns and regions, contributing to a better and more sustainable quality of life for their residents.
Solid waste management
We help to establish effective systems for the collection, sorting and recovery of waste, with a view to reducing pollution, protecting public health and promoting a local circular economy. We are involved across the entire solid waste management chain, from collection through to transport and treatment, right up to recovery.
Sustainable and inclusive energy
We support the development of accessible and environmentally friendly energy solutions, enabling communities and regions to benefit from reliable, affordable and clean energy.
Environment and adaptation to climate risks
We play an active role in preserving ecosystems, managing natural resources responsibly and promoting environmentally friendly practices. Our projects aim to combine economic development with respect for local areas, by incorporating measures to prevent risks associated with extreme weather events (floods, droughts) or climate-related hazards. The aim is to strengthen the resilience of communities, infrastructure and public services.
