The project

The project aims to: Strengthen the capacities of the two levels of project ownership involved in the programme (central and local) and support them in the management and steering of the PILEGI, to organise the management and maintenance of existing structures required to ensure the proper functioning of the town’s drainage system; and to provide social support for the project (works) and establish a fund to support environmental initiatives

Our services as part of the project

• Institutional and organisational assessment; establishment and coordination of the steering committee; development of project tools and procedures (procedural guide, procurement guide, reporting and M&E tools, etc.); support for project management; support for procurement; monitoring of project management and works contracts; capacity-building for the MUVH;

• Development and roll-out of a support strategy for HIMO workers; establishment of channels for dialogue in neighbourhoods; definition of a social contract with businesses; consultation with Microfinance Institutions (MFIs) on new payment methods and ways to safeguard funds; information and conflict management activities; training and awareness-raising for labourers (water & sanitation, waste management, financial education), defining the eligibility criteria for the Environmental Initiatives Support Fund (FAIE)
• Establishment of a multi-level institutional consultation mechanism (Ministry, Central City Council, District Councils, etc.), conducting an inventory of drainage infrastructure across the whole of Bangui in collaboration with technicians from the Directorate of Major Works, jointly developing a maintenance and upkeep plan (PEM) for the infrastructure, accompanied by a roadmap and commitments from participants, identifying available funding to implement the PEM, and providing training,
